Pros

People were ok, if a little frenetic. Support staff all lovely.

Cons

I really couldn't recommend this company. Everyone seemed to hate each other, and kept approaching me, telling me I'd "hate" my new boss/the team leader. On my first day. Really not the way to make a first impression. Would have been lovely if they'd suggested going out for lunch or something, but instead they just kept on and on about how much I was going to "hate" this experience. Also on my first day, the team leader pulled me into a meeting room at 9am and asked really weird questions which would have been more suited to someone coming in as a scientist (not an admin assistant) and talking about completely irrelevant things. Also, I was missold the role. Apparently I was there as a tidyer-upper for someone who'd previously made a mess of things. This had never been relayed to me. The end result was that I had everyone approaching me with piles of papers and work which I "really need to deal with NOW". End result was that I was going into work every day with a nervous tummy. Ended up leaving.

Pros

Safe industry to be in - there'll always be a railway. Benefits are pretty good (defined benefit salary, travel loans). Work is fairly interesting

Cons

Very political - it's all about face fitting. Deeply unfair review process, all about creeping around top bosses

Pros

Decent pay for an entry level job Benefits like travel loan, 75% off leisure national rail travel which helps out

Cons

Current victim of bullying from an SSM within a network rail managed station. Afraid to speak up due to fear of retaliation especially from senior station management. Management are the most toxic people in the world. Won’t care about you until you slip up then they rain hell on you. Overall work environment is toxic. If you don’t ‘worship’ management especially the senior station management like head of station, station manager expect to get treated like dirt. Progression is slow and you won’t get anywhere at all. Started with a few people within the same role and now 90% of us are looking for new jobs.
