Pros

Wonderful opportunities to upskill and train.

Cons

Incredibly poor comms - things change, that is inevitable but a failure to prepare the workforce means you don't get investment to assist that change from the people who will need to implement the changes

Pros

Great colleagues and good team work

Cons

I left Network Rail earlier this year after going through a rather traumatic experience with my manager and the senior management team. Unfortunately I wasn’t supported throughout despite being overwhelmed with work and telling them I was overloaded. No one cared, the culture at NR was very poor. This meant I worked in excess of 12 hours every day with no recognition that I was doing the equivalent of 3 people’s work. Unfortunately this led me to hate my job and ultimately I left as it was affecting my physical and mental health. Working at NR has made me realise it’s all about who you know and if your face fits. Even if you have no experience or knowledge, as long as you get on with the managers then you’ll get promoted. Poor work life balance, too much unrest with the constant train strikes and poor management throughout.
