Pros

Good benefits Great colleagues, who put up with a lot. Most of the staff give their life to ensuring the railway is as safe as it possibly can be

Cons

Poor pay for central functions Lack of development for anyone not in a role directly involved in "running the railway" Constant re-organisations

Pros

There is a good scope of growth and career development. Pension benefits are good too. Flexible work hours is an added bonus.

Cons

Sometimes too bearaucratic... things move slowly in network rail. Unions make it harder for the company to progress as swiftly as other private companies do.
