Pros

The work happening at Neuralink really is one of a kind, and I think has a major shot at truly changing the world. We are encouraged to get the tools we need and move fast without a lot of bureaucratic overhead in the way.

Cons

Given how interdisciplinary the problem is, there are many different technical cultures represented (academic neuroscientists, industrial mechanical engineers, software, etc) and there have sometimes been struggles to get them all to see eye to eye coming from such disparate perspectives and backgrounds.

Toxic

Pros

If you think a "shuttle", $300 Lyft credits, catered meals, and snacks in the kitchen offset the pay disparity - go for it. If you want your peer to hand over their work for you to complete and take credit - go for it. If you want your suggestions to be rejected, only for your peer to take the idea and take credit for it - go for it.

Cons

Below-market pay Toxic leadership Manipulative peers Employees are coddled with benefits, a never-ending cycle, never pleased Pay disparity Nepotism Public shaming Lack of continuing education
