Pros

TLDR: if ('You are in love with the New Relic software.') { return 'Tread with caution.' } else { return 'Take your talents elsewhere.' } --- Since nobody cared to do an exit interview, I find it my diligence to share with you all here. The best thing about New Relic is still the people, though many of the best have now left. Lew Cirne is still a tremendous leader. Though the company pushes diversity, I would instead call the environment a very open place to be yourself. This is great, though to have true diversity, the company needs to have a far lower percentage of white Americans. Code quality is overall good and seems to continue to be a priority. One of the best offices in PDX. Workplace/Facilities team does a great job.

Cons

Very inconsistent management practices. There are some really great managers here, but unfortunately those are over-shadowed by the ones who promote politics and use fear tactics. I still feel too much of management is disconnected or just doesn't care to listen to those below them. Poor hiring standards. The above is a side-effect of this. It seems too many people treat hiring as a nuisance. That's possibly the quickest way to erode culture. Very reactive and need to be proactive. After consistent survey results for multiple years, things like people's happiness and career growth are only now being discussed, and though I appreciate the current effort, it feels like too little too late. There is definitely the notion of a class society, where certain departments, teams, and titles are treated magnitudes better.

Pros

3 months into my time at New Relic I can say the culture is very supportive and individual success is happily celebrated. Not a lot of politics with teams working very well together. The importance of a happy and motivated workforce is understood and fostered. Great head office.

Cons

After visiting the head office and coming back to a regional office (without any of the bells and whistles!) you can feel a little bit like a 2nd class citizen.
