Pros

No better place to learn the ropes - either you sink, or swim. Very intense, but there's nowhere else like it. Most of the editors are very no nonsense, straight to the point, and you will learn and grow quickly.

Cons

As a company it's a little bit slow when it comes to embracing new ideas - definitely a more "old school" outlet which can be frustrating. Also, not for the fainthearted - if you aren't ready to work hard and push yourself, look elsewhere.
