Pros

Depending on your management structure, you might get to work on projects you enjoy. Same goes for enjoying working with your coworkers. Inherently, without the cons below, it is a job that is fun and engaging.

Cons

Rigid and dated approach toward management of employees. Widespread lack of leadership in exchange for frustrating micromanagement. Pay is painfully low for the specialized staff the institution likes to market. Little support for frontline workers. Very few options for mobility. A lot of burnout as a result.
