Pros

The name brand obviously still holds a lot of value. And there are some really smart people in the building who really could save journalism.

Cons

The beast of itself is enormous and as such, moving a beast with many legs, many heads and many brains forward, quickly and down a brand new path is as inelegant and painful as one would imagine. Careers here are measured in decades not years or quarters. A lot of "color inside the lines, sit and wait patiently" being asked of young, ambitious staff.
