Pros

high standards, excellent staff, nice view from the cafeteria view, prestige beyond measure

Cons

colleagues are superficially collegial but not really open to social interaction. in part, this is because deadline pressure is intense, and because pressure to metamorphose the NYT from a print to a digital medium has created extreme tensions among employees of different classes: between employees of different generations, between journalists and content-disseminators, between newcomers and established people in fear of their jobs.

Pros

This is a fun place to work. It has a great work life balance. The compensation is good.

Cons

I sometime wish management would work more like a lead start up. I still don't know why the company is paying for Oracle licenses.

Pros

People are very smart and intelligent, would greatly support ideas and it is recognized anywhere you go - it makes me proud to be part of such organization. Communication is great, inter-teams projects are quite often and there is little politics involved (at least in the IT side).

Cons

It is very slow to provide support for development of new projects. Personal growth is somewhat not clear how to achieve - sometimes it seems random.
