Pros

Surrounded by some of the best minds in journalism. They continue to lead the way in navigating the digital disruption. However, it is still a white male dominated newsroom.

Cons

An official policy of not promoting news assistants into editorial/reporting jobs, although some with the right mentors and connections do move beyond the menial tasks of answering phones and monitoring useless emails.

Pros

Smartest people I've ever worked with, experimental environment, incredible brand, fun colleagues. A strategic, communicative, down-to-earth CEO. A family that cares about journalism and the work environment.

Cons

So many smart people that everyone had opinions. This meant decision-making was about consensus-building, and thus slow. But I think management understood, and it was getting better.
