Pros

People care about their job and employees tend to be friendly and collaborative. While the pay is low for PM jobs, its not terrible and the benefits are pretty good (5 months of parental leave, etc).

Cons

More so than most PM roles, there is an assumption at NYT that PMs will write jira tickets/get super involved in the details (at other companies - engineers would do this) which can squeeze your time for strategy, etc. Also, in general editorial is king here. Finally, they sometimes do layoffs and have a not-great approach when it happens (~4 weeks of pay- 12 is common in tech and media and lots of big tech companies have ~6 months).
