On your Own if you are not Asian

Pros

They provide training classes so you understand programs and marketing vehicles. Good benefits and a good place to start your career.

Cons

Lots of office politics and groups of "clicks"; if you are not Asian you are fifth wheel. Company run from only the top. Category Managers have no say within their category as far as what happens to you. Top Management is at will to move anyone around from category to category weather you like it or not. High Turnover and very long hours! Any kind of direction that is given usually falls apart and reverts back to the same problematic ways. If you are in the middle or end of career you will not make it at this company!

Pros

not many, but if you have to look for something, i'd say the Name on your resume will help you in the e-com industry. Newegg still has a good name in the electronics industry and is seen by many large vendors as a good company.

Cons

there's a lot of CON's for this company but i'm only going to list out the most important ones and maybe the ones that potential job seekers should know about before going accepting a position at newegg. 1. there's no vision for long term success. What i mean by that is, managment doesn't have a sustainable goal/vision for 1-2 years down the line. Their goal is to get sales today and not worry about what it does for tomorrow. 2. Lack of HR department. the HR department here is non-existent. They are mainly order takers or messengers. Nice people but they have no power to help or affect change. When you think of HR you think of the front line to your company. Ones that come up with strategies to maintain talent and keep talent. After all, talent is what makes or breaks a company. that's not the case at Newegg. they will hire anyone that will follow orders and has industry experience. If you dont get the job, you probably blew the interview. 3. Leaders in a shrinking market. newegg is the leader in IT components. They have most of the market share in cpu, motherboard, hard drive, etc. Yet this market is shrinking, albeit it slowly, its still shrinking. to make matters worse, their strategy is to gain more marketshare by degrading prices and reducing margins. So to sum up, their putting all their "eggs" in a basket thats becoming smaller and smaller. 4. No presence in finished goods categories and non-hardware products. if you're reading this, you probably are internet savvy and shop online. You probably own a tablet, cell phone and the like. did you build either of them? You probably not. How about apps? do you download apps? movies? etc? more than likely yes. Well, newegg only sells hardware and mainly only components. They dont have an ecosystem for Apps, downloadable movies and content, or even host cloud services. All they can do is sell you a product and a warranty. so why would you buy from newegg? they ship fast? their prices are better? Again, a business model built on selling a product at the cheapest price on the internet. Simple economics will tell you, its not a sustainable business model. You need to offer services and add value or you're just another online company thats waiting to die. bottom line, if you need a job and you want to put newegg on your resume, i suggest you take a chance, see if you can take it and make it last as long as possible. its a chinese company with 1 wolf and a lot of sheep. you could be one of those sheep or you could decide that you want to put your time and effort into a company that has a future and will help you get where you want to go.
