Pros

Free lunches, Decent healthcare benefit, Retirement matching. Not much else to rave about.

Cons

NewsBreak has some serious flaws as a company. With poor work-life balance, minimal benefits other than healthcare, waining stock options, and non-competitive wages, this place is on a serious downward spiral. This company is China based with about half of its workforce in the US. Very clearly run as a Chinese company. After laying off a sizeable chunk of its workforce (at least 25%), the company is heading a spontaneous new direction after spending 3 years growing and building a sizeable workforce. This company repeatedly hires over its best people, meaning that even if you work hard and fill in the gaps of other roles, the company will neither reward you with higher salary/bonuses/stock options nor promote you to a higher position, just hire someone else and pay them more money to do your job. I saw it numerous times in different departments. This company had no system for increasing wages over time, and annual bonuses were often 3-5 months late. The options for lunches are either greasy asian food or salads. The company is going to be full time in the office, without any of the benefits that come with that. Their security also sucks. With multiple data breaches, including, at one point, all employees personal data. Offsite events are few and far between. The culture is just all about work, management is very political and hard to break into. Would not recommend this company but if you do only for a year and then GTFO.

"Startup" w/ no benefits of being a startup

Pros

Used to be a startup environment that encouraged cross-functional team collaboration and provided opportunity to strategize and make impacts to the business. Hybrid work environment. Mediocre/average benefits. Some really good people who deserve to be promoted, or at least recognized, for the great work they have done.

Cons

Continually hires high level execs to oversee and demote people who have been in the company doing the job. Never gives promotions. Flat or decreasing user base, yet management expects huge growth out of all other parts of the business without putting meaningful investment in the teams/product. Startup environment has turned into bureaucratic business where autonomy is taken away and employees are expected to be robots with no voice, and work is made 5x less efficient due to new processes that cause multiple bottlenecks and discourages collaboration - under guise that this how we scale the business. In reality this is going to stall the growth.
