Pros
It's a relatively young startup in the news aggregation space but they have already figured out their way to stand out among all the big names like Apple News, Google News, Facebook. The product and company are growing at a very fast pace which brings in favorable opportunities for your personal growth as well.
In comparison to its current position among competitors and its user base, the team is very very lean, which means if you are not satisfied with working within a fixed scope and limit, you do have a chance to try a lot of new things.
Colleagues are really top-notch. Half of the engineering team are PhDs from top universities. And they do bear business in mind when working on challenging technical problems.
What impressed me most about Particle Media is its strong growth mindset, meaning whatever they do, they ask themselves two questions in the first place:
1) How can the product grow by creating more value for its users
2) How the team and team members can grow to solve bigger challenges
And the result is very convincing, they are top of the chart on App Stores in terms of rating, user base, and active rate. They are on track to be the next unicorn startup from the bay area.
Cons
The environment is very competitive. And they do not have much management in place. If you are the kind of people that need people to tell you what to do, you probably find yourself difficult to get adjusted (They do not even have an onboarding process for new employees). But if you know what you want to achieve and are very strong opinionated, the culture is good for you to succeed as the majority of the team is helpful and the leader is very open-minded to make changes to enable personal success that will ultimately help the company to grow as well.
