Pros

Free snacks and drinks in the office, overall pretty casual office culture, editor-in-chief was really great, rest of employees were nice too

Cons

Benefits were below average, little room for advancement, most employees were not passionate and saw it as "just a job"

Pros

NONE. unless you are looking for a short term job opportunity.

Cons

High management turnover, went thru 3 bosses in over 2 years. They do not like to keep employees long term, and have a round of layoffs every year. Two already this year ( End of December- beginning of April), one last year (before Christmas), one the year before (before Christmas). The company i feel is having financial issues ( I've seen overdue bills come in from third party companies). Have a doctors appointment? dental appointment?.. must take PTO to cover it. Having maintenance man come to your house and need to work a day from home? Nope....Need to take PTO. They are NOT military or reservist friendly even though they think they are. They break the law in accordance to The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). They were going to force me to use my own PTO to take my 2 weeks of required duty which is illegal... they did provide a nice severance package to cover it up though. Crappy pay raises. IF you get one, dont expect more than a cost of living increase. I had raises but i heard in previous years they had NO raise in over 5 years prior! My raises were always afew months after December ( im assuming from the money saved from the last round of layoffs).

USERRA guarantees protected, unpaid leave to military personnel. The company cannot require, but allows employees to use their Paid Time Off during their time on active military duty at their discretion. Newsmax has had a number of employees who have served in the military, both past and present, and we strive to work with them as these employees serve our country.
