Pros

This company pay well to employees and provides promotion opportunities. Business grew very fast during covid but slow down over the past a few years. Colleagues are generally professional, experienced, and friendly. The working experience in the company is excellent.

Cons

The company struggled on the business model and has switched into different directions which led to lots of loss. The company also spent heavily on software development which is somehow not selling well in markets.

Pros

In my team of 12 engineers: - ownership of code (proactively reviewing each other's PRs and updating documentation) - genuinely kind, helpful coworkers (pairing was common and encouraged) - few meetings (one standup call a week, async the rest of the week) - my managers remembered my goals and taught me a lot Whole engineering team: - great work-life balance. A nice change from my past experiences working in NYC-based companies.

Cons

Leadership - they are still figuring out what their product is. There was a new product launch at least once a month and talk internally about how our main product was not profitable. - when I joined, what sold me was that our product was helping small businesses and mom & pop restaurants, but the company pivoted to focusing on enterprise clients partway through my time there. This was a source of moral dilemma for me, as this is clearly giving enterprise clients an even higher leg up over mom & pops.

Thanks for sending in your feedback during your time at Nextbite. It’s nice to hear about the work-life-balance you had and the positive experience with leadership and your colleagues. In regards to our shift in business strategy, it’s true that we are working with larger restaurants, however, we still have a huge part of the business supporting our SMB model. While enterprise has been a featured addition, it won’t replace the small to mid-sized restaurants we support! Our model change accelerates working with all types of restaurants to help them sell more food online. By working with more restaurants, we’re able to increase our customer base and reach a wider audience across North America. -Alex Canter
