It is a long drive to work and it would be nice to work from home more often, the cubicles can be noisy at times as all offices can be, and it would be nice to work from home whenever I would like. I have been informed that upper management (whom I think is actually doing a great job) feels more collaboration happens when we are at work than at home. I think this is true for meetings, at times, not all of them. However I am very close to the break room, (There are many) and the conversations that I hear at the water fountain / coffee area, and break room are not about work. So I wish we could stay home, and they would encourage us to attend meetings in person, at least every other meeting. I had worked for a long time in a different department and I have since moved. I saw a dramatic shift in the type of management from one department to the next. This, however, is not a bad thing. I just mention it to say that one individual's bad experience in one department is not representative of the entire company. I have been lucky thus far to be surrounded by intelligent and helpful coworkers that provide the support I need to complete my job and advance my career.
