Uncertainty is the biggest downside. Layoffs are being implemented in a swift & even sometimes arbitrary manner. Morale is at an all-time low all over Nielsen. It has become a large scale cash-grab. More than half of the work from this location is being offshored over the next year or two. Employees are being sent to India to train their replacements with no real incentive...their incentive is "a free trip to india". A good deal of jobs have already been "made redundant" aka let go. Many employees that have been given notice as to when their employment would end are now being retained well past their initial severance dates with no hope of any raise & they will lose any severance package if they quit.

Current move to Six Sigma process means all jobs are at permanent risk of outsourcing. Local community has lost over 300 jobs in the past year. One terminated employee, according to the St. Petersburg Times, was a 79 year-old woman who after 16 years of service to Nielsen was escorted from the building without an opportunity to gather her belongings or say goodbye to co-workers.
