Pros

Ability to work remote - you basically reap the benefits of your client. Just changed to unlimited vacation (con: this probably was to save money by not having to pay out vacation time when people leave since they never paid sick time)

Cons

Culture is now "culture of cost cutting". Understaffed to the point where it will start to show with clients. Layoffs still happening and there is no internal talent that can be shuffled around. Don't see myself having a pay raise anytime soon and with the company missing numbers, not expecting much of anything really. We sell in projects but then there are not enough people to complete them. I left my last job because of this type of mentality, it is not sitting well. Currently working through a VERY disorganized restructuring of the company as well as changing all of our internal management platforms. Needless to say, there is total lack of transparency, and I honestly don't have a very good outlook. You have to reach out to senior leadership for updates on what is going on rather than them reaching out to you. No one checks in on you, general feeling of a lack of empathy/compassion for employees. Because most people are remote or on-site, there is no sense of community/culture with Nielsen. You feel more aligned with your clients. I can't speak for others but certainly feel alone with no resources for help.

Pros

The opportunity to be overworked with an interesting client :)

Cons

Overworked, underpaid, and tone-deaf leadership has absolutely NO care in the world for the daily lives of its employees. Not only has the company announced they will be outsourcing virtually all positions to other countries (except for a few lucky ones), but they have no clarity (they are willing to share)/ timeline for what that will mean for current employees week after week. Instead, they painfully drag everyone into yet another week of torture filled with meetings that provide (can you guess)...... no answers. They have created a culture of anxiety and low morale among those who unfortunately still work there while never wavering in stressing the importance of..... meeting clients' EVERY need and maintaining the quality of output they know and love. Constantly overworked employees who deservingly want to excel in their careers have to argue with 'those above' for years about why they deserve a promotion while operating at levels higher than expected. The company has no forward-looking vision and is losing the respect it once had in the market research world by the second. Those seeking new employment, STEER CLEAR!

Pros

This used to be an amazing place to work. Great hours, benefits and culture. The ability to actually advance in your career. It was like a family.

Cons

Since Elliott bought them out it's been nothing but a nightmare. Continual layoffs, moving all our jobs offshore to India or Mexico... Take on more responsibility, work your butt off and oh by the way, train your replacements so you can be laid off at an undetermined time in the future and go out with a bang! What?! It's sad how they are treating us.
