Pros

Nielsen used to have a great culture and work life balance. Not so much anaymore.

Cons

Outsourcing most of the org (80%+), and it's going downhill. All are jumping ship and some employees only have a 4 week overlap with those they are replacing. Things will blow up in next 6-12 months. Leadership is clueless.

Pros

Learned new skills. Pre 2023, good work life balance. Superficially cares about it's employees.

Cons

I can't deal with this any longer. Thanks to this company I am having daily panic attacks. They make a big deal about having a "mental health" day but they are the ones that are constantly destroying the health of their employees. I have not been laid off yet but there are so many great people I know that were. These were great hardworking people that performed vital roles but they are thrown away without a second thought. The people that remain after each round of layoffs get more work piled upon them. In the past few months my workload has more than doubled. I am expected to work with no breaks and preform the workload of multiple employees with no increase in pay. I haven't been able to even take lunch in weeks. I can't say anything though because I don't want to appear like a weak link when the next round of layoffs comes up. While all this is going on I am also dealing with major health issues. I know COBRA is a thing but if I lost my job and my health insurance I don't know how I could possibly get by. My doctors literally tell me that the stress from work is making things worse but not having insurance would be even worse. So I am stuck overextending myself to meet the ever changing whims of a company that doesn't care at all about its employees. I don't know what is going to happen first but something is coming soon; Either I get laid off or I drop dead. I know this is a rant more than anything but perhaps someone will see it. If you are in a similar situation, you are not alone. I know I have been just talking about myself but I have multiple coworkers that are dealing with things like cancer or sick family members while waiting under the constantly hovering guillotine at Nielsen. If anyone in a position of power happens to see this, I hope you are aware of the people you have hurt and the culture you wought.

Interesting Work, Poor Leadership

Pros

Nielsen is the top media analysis and ratings company in the world. The company has been around for over a hundered years now by keeping an eye on the shifting landscape of consumer preferences. The last decade has seen a giant shift to streaming and Nielsen is on the forefront trying to understand how they can be involved.

Cons

Nielsen has abruptly pivoted to offshoring hundereds of US employees and is unclear on how much more offshoring is in the future. Several hundereds have already been laid off and the ones who remain are like sitting ducks just waiting to be told they are next. They make a huge point of saying their people is what makes the company great but then they throw away people who have been here for decades for a quick buck.
