Pros

Very supportive work environment. The support staff and administration work seamlessly with the teachers. Everything is efficient and clean cut. Supplies are always there and ready to use, and the principal, deans...etc. are very supportive of the teachers.

Cons

Too many meetings and prep time that is too short result in a lot of 'overtime' hours. I recall working 60 hours a week regularly.

Pros

Surrounded by people who deeply care about children and solving some of the deepest problems in our city and society. Lots of trust to do your job how see fit, as long as you can back it up with results.

Cons

Resources are super tight in urban education, but supporting teachers in balancing a career with the other joys in life is an area to grow. (through coaching or mentoring, not necessarily perks)
