Pros

* Freedom to do whatever you want. No one cares about code quality just that it works. * Flexible work hours since most software engineering is offshore.

Cons

* No direction or leadership. * No documentation or clear work requirements. * Constantly changing product requirements. * No technical leadership * Recruiting will lie about the career ladder * Horrible communication

Pros

- The mission is impactful, and it's satisfying to be able to drive health outcomes at scale - Work culture can be fun, and generally people are fairly collegiate and kind - Very flexible around schedule, and supportive of taking time off where needed

Cons

- Leadership can be machiavellian and metrics-focused to a fault (optimizing heavily for short-term, shallow outcomes) - There's a core group of folks who have a lot of influence and have been around for a while. It's often hard to have a debate about product decision because they have so much sway/don't evaluate input effectively - Career advancement is opaque and seems to be mostly at managerial discretion. The culture seems to frown upon people who are open about wanting to be rewarded for their work and effort - There's a fair bit of kool-aid, which can be fun in small doses, but can be hard to be around when you're knee deep in the sausage being made as it comes off as inauthentic
