Pros

The best reason to work at Nordstrom are the interactions that you get when working with your customers. Also the relationship that you build

Cons

The cons would be the employees arguing over the sales and the lack of managerial experience Also the slow season.

Pros

Good pay, Benefits are great for retail. Good way to meet a variety of people (customers).

Cons

Their "promote from within" policy can be a benefit, but in many circumstances, hinders Nordstrom's full potential. In other words, they will promote an individual even if he/she is not the best fit for that certain position. Retail hours vary, no steady amount of hours guaranteed

Pros

1. Clear expectations and consistent rewards - If you do what you are supposed to do, you will see results in your compensation and professional advancement. 2. Relative Autonomy - If you do your job you will not be micromanaged. Employees are encouraged to treat their sales floors as if they were their own personal businesses. Employees are empowered to make decisions in their customers' best interests. 3. Respected Name in Retail - Working at Nordstrom allows a retail salesperson to feel a sense of prestige. Nordstrom is affiliated with quality service and quality product. 4. Promote from Within - Nordstrom rarely if ever hires management from outside the company.

Cons

1. Highly Competitive - It is not an easy place to work. Demands are high. 2. Inconsistent Ethics - Be ready to deal with dishonest co-workers. Commission fraud is a fact of life.
