Pros

It's a cushy environment and you are treated with respect and sincerity. They value your experience, nurture you and encourage you in so many ways. Of course, not all managers are as wonderful as mine were and they are people who aren't as happy as I was. That's true everywhere you go. I seem to find people to work for who admire what I bring to the table. That's probably the key to being happy in a workplace.

Cons

Long-termers don't do as well. I came in with my demands met but it shook the place up, admittedly, because they weren't used to paying as much as I asked for. I learned this lesson three jobs before. You ask for more upfront or you'll take years to get to your worth. Most companies are happy to lowball you.
