Great place to work, competitive salary is not a priority!
Pros
NC State has great benefits, and is very flexible, depending on your department and duties. It's overall been a great place to work, though advancement has been a challenge.
Cons
This is a place of silos, one department or college may have way more resources than the one in which you are working, which means difference in salaries, job titles, duties and what you're allowed to do. You are greatly limited by your department's budget - and they're not all equal. Raises and bonuses, are practically non-existent, and in order to advance, you often have to leave the university and come back years later. Not an environment where "working your way up" works as it should. Often, you're working your way out - over to another university, and then maybe years later back into a higher position. Hiring takes forever in some departments.
