Pros

Department team members and regional management team were not only fellow coworkers but also felt like friends/family! Whenever I needed help, advice or needed a sounding board I knew I could depend on them moreso than my direct manager. Pay is good.

Cons

It is truly unfortunate because this Company has the potential to be great, however senior management are mainly ego driven and completely lack ethics/ true leadership skills. They demand rather than earn the respect of their employees. Blame is pointed to employees when tasks or projects are not completed on time however management consistently fails to provide clear expectations, and most often does not have the knowledge or ability to fully understand yet alone explain what is expected or how an employee can improve. Lack of structure Very reactive instead of proactive. Leadership tends to shoot from the hip No work/life balance and no respect for personal time. Training is not provided - you are expected to "fly" day 1. Turnover is high - rightfully so

Pros

NorthStar Memorial Group is a great and growing company to work for. A company that cares for the welfare of their staff and rewards them well when earned. It is a great privilege to be able to help assist families after a loss of a loved one and to educate and prepare the living for the future. I am truly grateful to have been given an opportunity to work for NorthStar Memorial Group.

Cons

Serving families at one of their worst times in their life may be overwhelming at times. It takes a unique and strong person to be able to overcome these obstacles. If you are not passionate and honest about helping other's in need and not willing to go above and beyond outside your comfort level, NorthStar may not be the right fit for you.

Pros

The team I was on was absolutely wonderful. I couldn't have asked for a better manager (one of the few honest people there)

Cons

There is an inexcusable amount of miscommunication between the departments, which leads to frustrated customers and disgruntled employees. Often, when you ask someone from another department for help, you get a late response, the wrong material, or no answer at all. Everyone has learned to just tolerate this. Many of the managers and high sales people are known for breaking the rules or flat out stealing leads to make their sales. Very few of the people who work at Restland are honest, most are just in it for the money. There is a huge lack of integrity, morals, and common courtesy, and it's disappointing to see that most of it stems from management. The pay system is set to take your weekly wages out of your commission. If you don't sell anything your first week, your "debt" rolls over to the next week and so on until you've made enough commission to pay it off. This leads to a very stressful environment of trying to stay "out of the hole". It's hard enough selling something no one wants. adding the stress of paying back your weekly pay does't help anyone. Restland is a place filled with ego-loving, money hungry, calloused humans, who don't care about customer service unless it helps line their pockets.
