Pros
The mission of the institution is honorable. Benefits and retirement plans are good. It is a safe environment in which to work. Sexual harrassment toward females is generally not present. Opportunities for continuing professional education are excellent.
Cons
Monetary donations to the institution are expected annually as well as attendance at a large number of after-hours functions for fund raising and other college events. Promotions are not totally based on job performance. Salaries are not based on work load and men generally receive higher salaries. Personnel policies are not enforced equitably. Current senior management has a tendency to insulate themselves from practical considerations in some areas and resources of the instituion are not equitably distributed among departments. At times the resources are spent on areas which would garner praise for individual staff or provide for a high degree of institutional recognition rather than on real student needs.
