      Pros

      it is a great place to work at your own leisure the people and atmosphere are great your earning potential is unlimited at northwestern mutual. The internship is rated amongst the best in the nation. The hours can be long but it all pays in the end. Northwestern is ranked as the best and it is because of its employees.

      Cons

      It is hard to launch a career with minimual funds the begging pay is low but you are given the tools to suceed. You get what you put in but advancement can be slow. Be prepared to earn your paycheck. Long hours but very rewarding.

      Pros

      Great work/life balance. It has an unusual culture for a large corporation in today's society - it isn't focused on being the biggest, but the best. It treats employees well and provides good benefits. It's a very financially responsible and stable company. I feel very secure in my job, even when many other large companies are having to lay people off. It's a place where you can have a career.

      Cons

      It can take a while to get things through the pipeline. However, that's also one of the reasons why they are so secure, because they really take the time to think through their decisions. Don't expect a fast-paced business environment. Promotions might not occur as fast here as they do at other places. But sometimes a great work environment and stability is worth a slower climb.

      Northwestern Mutual currently enjoys top ratings for insurance financial strength from the four major rating agencies - Standard & Poor's, Fitch Ratings, A.M. Best and Moody's. Although the rating agencies currently have a negative outlook on the life insurance industry in general, we believe our ratings will remain at the top of the industry. Northwestern Mutual's ability to appropriately adjust the dividend payable on its policies each year to reflect the recent financial performance has been viewed very positively by the rating agencies. We are justifiably confident in our financial strength and ability to deliver on its obligation to policyowners.

      Cons

      Through the ever changing economic environment, Northwestern Mutual sometime struggles to keep employees and financial representatives up to date.
