Pros

Team was excellent, people cared about each other and working on exciting projects that are significant to the company’s strategic goals was interesting and challenging.

Cons

Benefits are being chipped away to the point that it’s not nearly as great working for NM as it used to be. Other companies are catching up trying to compete for talent that NM isn’t as competitive anymore. I’ve had three headhunters in the last month reach out offering $30-50k more than my current salary… I’m definitely following up on those! Leadership is well meaning but largely ineffective and any “development” or onboarding programs are laughably pathetic. I learned more on my own through external classes I paid for out of pocket because their budgets are too slim to allow employees to have any worthwhile development opportunities apart from being put on large disorganized projects with little direction, mentoring, or support. Tons of people working on the same projects that actually making progress is extremely difficult. Someone else usually gets credit for the work you put in, or even gets promotions based on the results you helped to orchestrate. Little reward or recognition, lower pay for the industry, and low morale leads to toxicity and burnout.

Pros

It’s a great company to use as a comparison as you career shop in the world of financial services

Cons

It is a glorified MLM, regardless of what anyone tells you. You DO have to call friends and family. Shaming, lack of training

Pros

Compensated for taking exams that they require

Cons

Just seems like a pyramid scam. You have to come in with minimum of 250 names to start and they make you give them access to your cell phone contacts and upload it to a spread sheet that they keep. Upon leaving you are fined for leaving before your contract is up. I was promised so many things working here and never received any of them. If you arent in the top 5-10 producers in the office they really act like you don’t exist. They pressure you to message people on Facebook and you are also forced to split commission for the first year. You do all the work and have a “veteran” advisor keep half the commission. Also a very high turnover rate, in the year I worked there I saw probably 30 new employees come and go
