      Pros

      At minimum, you get exposure to the health field. There was a strong culture of protecting the patients personal information

      Cons

      Low Low Low pay.. I cross-trained and worked in two different departments to do the work of 2 people--I was promised a raise but it never came. I then applied for and landed a lead technician position and I requested to be paid the amount a male applicant was offered but declined.. and the HR lady LAUGHED in my face and wouldn't budge from $4 less than what he was offered. Then when the market adjustment raises came around some time later, they didn't give it to me because of my "promotion".

      Pros

      Great benefits; PDO add up quick, health/vision/eye insurance at a fair rate. Awesome team of clinical staff in all nursing departments.

      Cons

      Short staffed, heavy workload because of this. Constantly getting floated to other units/floors causing much frustration. Low pay compared to the cost of living. Small yearly raises (.01- .10 cents) Have to schedule your days off and PDO at a minimum of two months in advance. Impossible to travel during holidays, you either work Christmas Eve or Christmas for example.

      It's a job. They have descent benefits.

      Cons

      I was a manager for 23. The medical practice I was with was "acquired" by Novant. If you work anywhere other than a hospital location, you're treated like 2nd class and never acknowledged. Longevity and loyalty isn't considered an asset. They talk about the importance of employee satisfaction, but that's really as far as it goes.
