Pros
I consider Novartis to be one of the best companies to work for in terms of salary, work life balance, diversity and inclusion, benefits and continuous learning. In terms of people, I would say that it depends on who you are matched with (department, peers, superiors, Subordinates, etc). I had an excellent experience during my eight year tenure because I was paired with a great group of peers, superiors, subordinates, contractors, and vendors.
Cons
As in most companies, your career path may not progress as fast as you would like it to. As a result, you may have to make the difficult decision to leave. Also, do to the nature of the business, "layoff", similar to rain, is a natural occurrence.
