Pros
I learned a lot from working with coworkers in other departments. People were easy to share their knowledge and employees wanted you to succeed. The initial department I worked in, I dealt with so many other people that I learned so much and this helped me get promoted 3 times while working there.
Cons
Initially I worked a log of overtime because of turnover. But more people were brought in later. Once people figure out that you have knowledge from other departments, they will keep coming to you even though you don't work in those groups anymore. This can be confusing but you figure it out.
