Pros

Excellent pay considering the local cost of living

Cons

Plant is the neglected, impoverished step child of the Nucor corporation when compared to the other Nucor location around the nation. Originally not a Nucor plant, it was acquired several years ago with the antiquated equipment, management, and especially corporate culture & management. Nucor has taken strides to bring this site into alignment with its' vision but there is still too much of the old guard and their way of doing things. The "front office is so out of touch with what's occurring outside of the administrative building. Misogyny & ethnocentricity are rampant on the shop floor. There is a lot of money to be made here (especially for those with only a high school or ged diploma). You just have to be able to ignore all of the bad and leave it behind each time you walk out the plant gate.
