Two Great Companies Failing Together

Pros

Legacy TIAA had and has a remarkable culture, competent people, and a commitment to their participants in important ways. But that is changing. Solid Work-Life Balance.

Cons

Legacy TIAA and Nuveen do not see eye to eye. TIAA's motto for the longest time was "For the greater good" and it's been swiftly eroded by leadership that has absolutely no direction. None. How many name changes has the business been through? How swiftly have we made leadership changes? Also-- Legacy Nuveen needs to "buy-in" to TIAA culture in more important ways. Our core values used to be central to every way that we operated the business-- no they're talking points. That has to change.

Good people, struggling a bit right now

Pros

Nuveen has a good working environment: people are positive, supportive and flexible. I'm pretty with that aspect of the company. There are multiple affiliates and funds within those affiliates that give you exposure to multiple strategies (small cap, large cap, etc) and domestic and international markets. There's also the free lunch.

Cons

The funds are not doing well right now, but it looks like we've changed course. Hopefully the bleeding will stop and funds will come back. We could probably use more resources. Some of the computers are old, and other equipment is not available.

Pros

- Downtown Chicago location (if you are part of the mother-ship). - Near the food court at the Merchandise Mart. - Free coffee. - Nice place before it was taken private.

Cons

- No one-on-one communication from management. - Endless meetings arguing over minutia. - Days filled with busy work, not productive work.
