I’ve only been here a short time but I’m very impressed with the way management treats people.
Pros
They told me things in my interview that I dismissed as just words they say to sell themselves to people. Things like how they would value my input and they encourage honest feedback. In my very first week I was in a very pleasant, laid back meeting with an Executive Director who came in with some ideas in mind, listened to the thoughts of the other people in the room, asked some questions, and agreed with and thanked them for their thoughts. He listened to everyone, we all had a great conversation and shared ideas, and he helped to solidify the plan and how he would help it move forward. It was so different from every other place I’ve worked. And it wasn’t a fluke. Managers, Directors, and Executive Directors I’ve worked with have all been very welcoming to new ideas and perspectives. If they make a decision, and someone who’s closer to the technology or situation changes their mind, they just say, “Hey, I know I said we should do this thing, but Lora and I discussed it and she made some great points, so we’re going to do this other thing instead. They still lead, and drive processes forward, but they don’t have the big egos that a lot of management types do. Also, during the pandemic, our CEO took action very early on to get things ready to shift to working from home. He cancelled events before large gatherings were banned. He communicated frequently through video, and they implemented emergency time off with pay for people who were sick or needed to care for children at home. They’ve been wonderful during this time! I feel like they have taken a lot of weight off of my shoulders. Family comes first!
Cons
They’ve been remodeling the building, and the common areas look great and have a lot of light. Unfortunately, I work on a floor that hasn’t been remodeled so it’s dark, and the furniture is old and drab. Just a big old cube farm.
