Pros

ORNL FCU is going through a rebirth of sorts. The new CEO is far more personable and engaged than the last. Reorganization is happening. Opportunities for employee engagement and growth are exponentially growing. It's an exciting time for many but scary to some who have been through the enormous changes of the last few years. Yes, HR is strict, but in every past job I've ever had HR has been the party-pooper. My sister works in HR and through her I now fully understand the importance of imposing strict rules. Apparently, having the EEOC after you isn't cool in the HR world.

Cons

Pay needs to be more competitive. We are losing key players that we have invested thousands in over a few dollars. Recognition and promotion of high performers is expected at a must faster pace for millenials. It will be difficult for many decision-making baby boomers at ORNL FCU to understand and acknowledge this. But it is crucial.

Pros

- Rewards top performers, easy to stand out and earn exposure to strategic initiatives if you know what you're doing. - Culture is very good and flexible to accommodate family and personal needs. - Several (10-15) phenomenal managers/leaders that singlehandedly keep the company progressive and competitive.

Cons

- Pay is not competitive for professional positions. Only way to get the pay appropriate for a position is to get another job offer and pressure ORNL to match. - HR is extremely conservative and as a result, serves as a chokehold on the organization. Millennials will NOT want to work here if the current HR strategy is maintained. - Volunteer Board is outdated with zero incentives to maintain company profitability. Pay these people based on company performance before it's too late!

Pros

Company goals and employee appreciation is great. Internal promotion is widely offered. Co-workers are friendly.

Cons

While the downsides are minimal they are almost daily and are unavoidable. As in any customer service based position you will deal with disgruntled members. Sales are also hammered into you. Asking every member to apply for a credit card or sign up for a service or product makes you feel robotic. You will also be asked to do cold calls. If this kind of sales are your thing- rethink.
