Pros

The hospital provided many different specialties and floors that you could transfer to I order to increase your experience.

Cons

Many of us became burnt out because we were being forced to pick up extra shifts for a year. Management refused to address the situation correctly. There ended up being a hospital wide policy that forced nurses to pick up extra shifts. We were also mandated to float to the emergency department even though we were not trained for it. In the icu there were unsafe patient ratios. Multiple times I would have a patient that was supposed to be 2 nurses to one patient but they gave us more. Charge nurses also had to pick up patients. It was unsafe and the hospital always found ways to cover it up to protect their magnet status but this was an issue on most floors.

Pros

The mission is real....just not the people supporting it.

Cons

The director level of managment is poor at best. No support of middle managment. All the managers are afraid of the employee survey and the secret reporting (444 line). They are several employees that use the anonymous reporting line as a weapon. HR supports this behavior.

Pros

Co workers, Ok Benefits, not much else

Cons

Management!! OSF at one time was a good place to work, not anymore. Management is not held to the high standards of living the Mission and following the values they insist on all employees follow. Employees are often told they are easily replaceable. Long time employees are not valued as they once were. Management wonders why long term employees are leaving and new employees are working only for a paycheck. Management needs to listen to the comments made by all employees and change their views or they will continue to loose valuable long term employees that helped make OSF the medical center it was once known as.
