Pros

Every department except the Hameetman Career Center (HCC) is great.

Cons

THIS IS NOT AN ANGRY EMPLOYEE POST- THIS IS REAL. AVOID ANY POSITIONS IN THIS DEPARTMENT. Most abusive work environment WE (the staff) ever encountered. Other departments seem friendly and supportive and they're committed to holding on to good employees for years, but the "leader" of the Hameetman Career Center regularly harasses her staff by yelling at them in front of groups, students, and visitors. She has no direction and very limited experience, VERY HIGH TURNOVER RATE in only this department, always under HR investigation, she's been there for two years and there is not a single person in the department who was there when she started because they all quit because of her, she is incredibly incompetent and needs to bully and intimidate her staff in a desperate attempt to hide it. The college recently held an employee appreciate event, every department leader was present, except for the "leader" of the Hameetman Career Center and every department has some type of recognition except the the career center. She is micromanager which is tough to handle since she is poorly informed on many subjects. She is focused control and nothing else. Constantly making new demands or new ridiculous policies that are focused on behavior, dress code, time off, or work hours, despite the fact that there are no staff issues with any of these topics. Most current staff members are seeking employment elsewhere. On several occasions, the "leader" of the HCC informed all of her staff that she doesn't care if they quit or find employment elsewhere, claiming that "I'm a recruiter and I'll just find someone new" yet there has been many positions that she is incapable of filling. The rest of the college is great, but not here. She will pretend she is nice in the interview process and find something to yell at your for on your first day. If you are looking for a position with no growth, constant abuse, constant pointless meetings that usually involve you just sitting there watching the "leader" slowly type or not know how to work technology then this is the perfect place for you.

Pros

A good school with incredibly intelligent and strong-willed students. Some staff and departments truly care about seeing the school and students truly succeed. Great co-workers.

Cons

Too many upper level administrators stuck in an outdated leadership model. Those on the lower rungs do the majority of the work that truly makes the school run and move forward, but are given very little room to move up. Pay tiers are ridiculous and promotions are few and far between. Those in leadership will praise good work but not reward it appropriately with career mobility. In the past few years the President has made some seriously bad hires among upper levels. Entire departments have seen their entire staff leave and be replaced, meaning long term goals continuously shift. The students are the ones who ultimately suffer from so much mismanagement and they pay entirely too much to attend a school that can't get its act together. Also, the students at this school will make your job hard. They are worth it if you have tough skin, but they will challenge you.
