Pros

Flexibility. Staff discount. Friendly staff.

Cons

20% discount is good but this is pretty much the only benefit afforded part-time staff. Yes, we get sick time accrual etc., but that is state law. We all get the chance for discount for meals, but only in RI. How about sharing some of the benefits like the company condo in NH? I'd love to be able to utilize that option if available.

Thank you for sharing and we love hearing from the team. You will be seeing some exciting benefit offerings beginning in April. PT associates working 20 hours or more will receive paid life insurance. All associates will have access to a fully paid Employee Assistance Program. We do give PT associates more than the state requires. PT off, sick, and personal time. Also access to auto discounts, vision insurance, and dental insurance. All the same as FT.

Pros

Being in my 13th year with Job lot should say plenty! Job lot is a great company to work for, not many companies can offer what they offer, they definitely are an employer of choice. I started as a part time cashier and worked my way up over the years. I've learned so much over the years and still continue to take in as much as I can, with everything and anything that comes my way. I've been part of a training team/store for the last so many years, I've also helped roll out new programs with the company as well. I love meeting new people, training, and watching them succeed on their journey with Job Lot. Job Lot has come a long way over the years for the good. Being with the company for so long I consider my job Lot team part of my family. There's always room to grow, and you certainly can learn something new every day.

Cons

As much as I love my position with Job Lot, I do have a few cons. As an Operation supervisor and I'm a key carrier it can be mentally stressful at times. Some associates look at my position as just an "office job" how hard can it really be?! Well I'm not the type to hibernate in the office my entire shift, I love pushing freight, I love the interaction with other associates and customers. I don't consider myself an ordinary Ops. Sometimes as an Ops it feels like we have more responsibility then the average assistant mgr, or sometimes the assistant mgr feels anything and everything is our responsibility and wants no part in things they should be doing or at least know how to do. You have the SM who is making sure things are getting done, the Ops following up with the SM to keep up with compliance and the ASM lost in between with most of the time having not a clue. I think as an Ops we don't get recognized enough, floor associates have the Treat program, which is great. As an Ops, pretty much the SM's right hand person, with all that we have to keep up with as far as policy change, new programs, new Pos changes any communication for that matter that needs to be brought to their attention, we don't get much recognition nor do we get a competitive pay rate. I guess sometimes it can make you feel over worked and not much appreciated.

Thank you and I can tell you the Ops position is a key member of the team. We will try to work with the teams to better educate on all the responsibilities of our Ops Managers. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
