Pros

- Annual gathering in Chicago - Great HR team - Good clients and projects - Unlimited PTO

Cons

- Compared to the amount of work, the base salary is SUPER low for Analyst role! - You have to work for 14-15 hours a day! This is serious! - No work-life balance - The managing director I worked for was so mean. never said "thank you" for working 15 hours/day and getting that project done!

Pros

The non-executive team is great. Most analysts, Associates, and Directors are smart and conscientious and, most importantly, are generally good people.

Cons

The firm suffers from a deep malaise - hard to detect during the interview process, but palpably evident once you're on the inside. Many (most?) employees are demoralized and seem to be looking for a way to escape. I certainly was! This all flows from the top: The executive team lacks a coherent vision, and the owners are primarily looking to cash in and head for the hills. While not immoral, they treat most employees as mere economic inputs, rather than human beings with dignity and creativity. Ocean Tomo asks for more than it gives (in compensation, work/life balance, and respect). As a result, it hemorrages talent, and the IP industry is full of ex-Ocean Tomo employees who are thanking God that they found a way out.

Pros

-Work with some smart people -Learn about interesting technologies/topics -Good office space

Cons

-No integrity in the firm's senior leadership -Salary on a per hour basis is a joke (no 401K match either) -Bonus is a joke -Incredibly long hours and weekends doing trivial, monotonous work that can and will be slightly altered and need to be completely redone on the whim of a director or managing director -1/2 the job of an analyst is to check and recheck sentences and numbers in reports
