Business Outlook
Pros
1. Able to perform FULL SCOPE of practice. 2. Work in a temperature controlled environment 3. Pays better than most EMS companies (FT) (PRN is paid lower) 4. ED Paramedic/ED RN are essentially lateral positions.
Cons
1. Toxic workplace-They keep low performers around and expect the high performers to make up for the slackers without complaining. 2. Core Values are for PR only. Leadership does not care about you. 3. HR/Employee Relations cannot be trusted. "Confidential" is a LIE. 4. Although RN/ED Paramedics are essentially equals as far as work assignments, there remains a significant pay gap. As an experienced Paramedic, I was making $6/hr more than a new grad medic. However, I was making only $2/hr more than a new grad RN.
