Pros

Lots of smart and thoughtful people. Great benefits. The culture is healthy and fun - people eat lunch together, there are groups that play video games, and the company puts a lot of effort into the employee experience. OkCupid is the best company I've worked for because of the people and clear growth opportunities. There is a small company feel despite OkCupid being a mature and profitable company.

Cons

The work remote policy is a little limited. There are some areas with a lot of technical debt, which is to be expected for a company that's been around this long, but it is being dealt with.

Pros

Lots of smart and nice people. Employees believe in the product, and genuinely want to build stuff that helps people. Stable and profitable company, isn't going to disappear any time soon. Pay and benefits are great. Wide variety of snacks. There is such a thing as a free lunch, and a nice one at that. Friday breakfast is fantastic. Many people have lunch together at a communal table which is a good way to get to know each other. Free valet parking in the building.

Cons

Tech stack is custom and ancient, source code is a mess, mountains of technical debt. On the positive side they are aware of these issues. Because it's a small company with only one product, there's a limit on how much you can grow & change in your career. Lots of interaction over slack, even if the person is 10 feet away from you. Sometimes that's best, but overall I'm not a fan of that. Too many snacks = more time at the gym.

Pros

Really great company : I have been relocated from France last year, the company really helped a lot with the move. When I arrived, everybody welcomed me as a part of the family (yes, OkCupid is a small company, everybody knows everybody) The overall ambiance is really nice : free lunch, lots of happy hours, video games. OkCupid is a group of very smart people, they really care about their users and really try to do the best they can so that people find love.

Cons

The only thing I can say is that if you're used to work in big companies with a lot a process, it might be a bit complicated for you to work at OkCupid. The company is still working as a startup which can be adapted to some people but could largely confuse others
