      Pros

      Okta is doing great things. They have very smart people on staff and are mostly friendly. Benefits are good as well. If you got in early, stock options are quite valuable.

      Cons

      The team that I was on was severely understaffed (less than half of what was needed). It was not uncommon to work extremely long hours to get things done, even with other projects and tasks slipping because there was simply not enough bandwidth. There was an open headcount, but one person on the team was moved to another team and the headcount was suspended due to budget issues. Remote employees are often treated as second class. There were numerous times I was on a scheduled meeting but the organizer never dialed in. Equity regrants were minuscule compared to initial offer.

      Good Company, People and Culture - Stay away from the Support Department

      Pros

      Great People, Salary and Culture. Free food and snacks. Most people are easy going and are determined to help you succeed no matter what.

      Cons

      Support Management doesn't listen. Performers get penalized by picking up the slack of others. Patterns of others are overlooked that are obvious. (e.g. case load gets high, mysterious sickness so cases can be re-distributed to others; rinse and repeated) -- Burnout factor is high due the above -- Cases are not distributed evenly (again performers get penalized) -- Processes are made up on-the-fly to appease situations, however NOT thoroughly thought out -- Processes are not enforced for everyone, even when on the same Team -- When you speak up about anything, you become a target Stay away from Support.

      Pros

      Okta exists in a in demand and upcoming field. Agile R&D. Big name customers. Seems very attractive on the outside.

      Cons

      Almost no work life balance. Too many changes in management. I have had 4 bosses year to date. Mid level managers are clueless about how to run a professional services organization. Overall lack of support, training, and decent management for field based employees. Way too focused on the IPO and not focused enough on the basics. Does not value employees! Do not believe the hype. Management never responded to emails or escalations. Too many benefits for San Francisco employees vs field based employees.
