Great family type atmosphere to work in. Strong focus on safety through orc program. Knowledgeable engineers to learn from. Great pay and benefits. Numerous career opportunities. Focus on career development.
I've worked as an Engineer at four chemical manufacturing companies. I can say that Olin stood out as the company that truly:
Committed to a 'safety first' culture
Valued and grew their technical employees
Properly staffed and committed to not reducing headcount
Committed to a long term plan and vision for the company
The management at every other company will preach those priorities and talk about their importance, but only at Olin did the actions and decisions of upper management back them up.
Cons
Management was slow to prioritize and fund projects that should have been no-brainers. I.E. "Roof is leaking? Lets wait a year to replace." I assume this happens to some degree at every manufacturing site looking to optimize and cut costs.
