Pros

Incredibly nice people and lots of flexibility to take time off and work flexible schedules. The 10/11 Month year is highly popular and allows people to pursure personal goals. Also, non-profit fellowships allow people to volunteer and get paid 40% of their base salary to do so. Lots of opportunity to travel with new consultants being able to get on international cases day one (v.s competitors where you have to wait until year 3).

Cons

Internal confusion over recent rebrand. One brand, but still operated as two very separate businesses (Legacy Mercer Management as GMC, and Legacy Mercer Oliver Wyman as FS). While the client facing company is one brand, internally the company operates as two firms.

Pros

Good pay (for consulting), decent brand name, & rapid career advancement (due to early focus in financial services industry).

Cons

Hours and staffing are completely unpredictable, perception that work adds little value, cheap on expenses, short-term mindset (limited infrastructure and investment in the future of the business), fast-track to Partner rumored to be on the decline.

Pros

Great people to work with - super smart, yet down to earth and friendly. Great opportunities for professional development, it's a complete meritocracy and you are given as much responsibility as you can handle from a very early stage. Good opportunities to travel if you want to as well.

Cons

As with any consultancy the hours can be somewhat unpredictable and long at times. If you don't like to travel it can be difficult getting used to being away from home three nights a week for long stretches.
