Pros

After years working in startups working towards IPO, acquisition or bust, it's been a real fresh air to have my work contribute to an organization focused entirely on helping the community thrive. OnPoint's success has been a result of the credit union putting the success of its members first, and is quick to reward its employees for maintaining that focus.

Cons

In my experience, technical progress has always moved slowly in the financial industry; this is especially true for a credit union vs. a big bank. The org is growing rapidly, which is great--but with that growth has come some growing pains that are part of that process.

Pros

Benefits; some nice people; remote work available for some. If your manager is good, you might be ok. Growth opportunities abound (because many good people have found better gigs/been forced out/quit outright.

Cons

Toxic personalities and attitudes abound above the level of manager. It is a coin flip whether you will be dealing with a well-meaning person trying to change the culture for the better or an abusive snake who will undermine / gaslight / scream at you. Working across departments puts you in a psychologically unsafe position; many will slow-play their responsibilities or play politics if it suits their personal motives. The core conversion was a nightmare for the boots on the ground folks - clean up is still occurring over a year later. If you get a job there, do everything you can to make your boss happy and nothing else. Consider anyone outside your department as a viciously competitive person that is only out for themselves until they absolutely prove to you they aren't.

Continuous improvement is part of our culture, and we appreciate your feedback. While we're glad you found value in the benefits, remote work options, and some positive experiences with your colleagues, we're sorry you experienced other challenges. At OnPoint, we're dedicated to fostering a supportive and respectful environment for all employees, and we are confident that we have a strong culture. Still, we'll consider your concerns as we continually strive to make OnPoint an incredible workplace for everyone. If you have additional details that would be helpful to our review, please message us at hr@onpointcu.com. We did want to address the core conversion. As you know, it was a massive endeavor for our credit union. We found that it was an incredible success compared to our peers who have undergone similar organizational change. That doesn’t mean it was easy, but we're proud of the work our people contributed to this project. Still, we understand that experiencing these changes was challenging for some of our team, and we’re grateful for their efforts. Lastly, thanks for your time at OnPoint, and we wish you the best in your career. Sincerely, -OnPoint

Pros

Competitive pay, co-workers, great health insurance

Cons

Verbally abusive customer base, they expect you to take way more calls due to high turn over rate, limited to no room for growth unless you work yourself to the point of not being your own person anymore. You get docked/punished if you have to leave/come late while almost every week a manager would need to leave early or show up late.
