Pros

This is a sort of technical support job supporting internet connectivity. You should know a little about computers and the internet. As with any customer support job there are great and not so great customers this is something that comes with the job, not a reflection of the company. You'll learn the techniques of dealing with customers if you've never worked this type job before. Fortunately I've work Helpdesk before. Hours are fairly flexible, after your training period you will be given a schedule that is pretty consistent. I worked 30 hours a week with little change. You will be expected to work a weekend day which was no problem for me. There are plenty of training resources that they supply online. As with most at home support type gigs you really have to motivate yourself to use the materials, there is no one standing over your shoulder to force you. Your calls are rated by QA and you are told what areas you need to improve in. Sometimes I disagreed with a rating but found them to be pretty fair. The chat rooms, L2's and other resources really help in learning the job. The chat rooms helped me the most because you definitely felt you were in a group and not alone. I might of just been lucky but the Team Leaders I had were very helpful. They were online and easy to contact. When there was a problem with my performance they would advise and give pointers. I experienced no negative contacts with my Team Leader at all.

Cons

Compensation is not the greatest in the world but I did see a clear path for moving up within a year or so if you were able to perform and keep up your ratings. One problem I felt was as you were learning and becoming comfortable at performing tasks or programs. You were dumped into new programs with little training and had to pick it up as you went, very stressful when dealing with live customers. Large amount of tools and multiple screens required to perform tasks, counted at one time had 6 windows open jumping back and forth like mad. Tools need to be consolidated into a reasonable amount of screens
