Pros
x Good location in London (Bank, Fenchurch Street, Cannon Street, London Bridge, Liverpool street are all 5-20 mins away). x Good salary
Cons
Working Culture x No flexible working, WFH frowned upon – for a modern-day technology company? Really? x “If you think you signed a contract to work from 9 to 5 you can leave” - words of the CEO x Regular announcements that if you just do your ‘normal hours’ this place isn’t for x Gossiping is rife in this place x People often complained of no pay rise or no promotions Poor Management & Lack Of Leadership x Did a hiring surge before the end of last year with no planning as those would tell you work started to slow down x Made people leads and took them away, swapped people around - there being flexible and then there is lack of direction x Management tends to have a persona of we are better than you x Management tends to favour certain people over others x Lack of transparency – never got a straight answer – just waffle Billable System x Brought in a SalesForce system where you mark how ‘billable’ you are – so how much time you spend directly with clients as opposed to admin, training etc x Your value to the company is then how much time you are spending with your clients – 50% billable - you spend 50% of your time with clients x The problem with this is 1. We are not assigned our own clients! How billable we are depends on how many clients we have 2. Clients have a lot going on – so they may not be ready to do some work for a while 3. Person 1 can spend 8 hours with a client and Person 2 can spend 2 hours with the client and still get to the same outcome. So this measure doesn’t’ actually measure results or success. 4. How people measured it was different across the company? If I write 5 5min emails is this valid billable time? If I shadow someone is this valuable billable time? 5. You can put in more hours than you actually do – who is assessing it? I’m not saying this was widespread or anything, but this is a pointless metric Lack of honestly from the CEO x Kabir reassured us that it was important to measure who is doing what, so we can reassign people (fair enough) and that if you are doing less than 40 hours it is not a problem. x They mentioned that they had $400M in the bank and everyone is safe for this sad time in our lives. x Kabir and gang started talking about all the difficulties they have taken their previous companies through and they were fully prepared to ride the storm. x THEY SAID ALL JOBS WERE PROTECTED THROUGH THESE DIFFICULT ECONOMIC TIMES x Next week 10% - 30% of the company gets laid off – remember lack of transparency! x They only told some of the leads on that same day! COVID-19 Response x Told to keep coming into the office – the office is safer than homes – until Government advice changed this. AFTER CEO SAID JOBS WERE SAFE JUST THE PREVIOUS WEEK x We watched people be removed one by one on Microsoft Teams x HR & senior management booked a meeting with you, told you were not good enough, poor performance (in reality OneTrust just took the opportunity to reorganise the business, make people redundant and squeeze more out of the workforce,) x As soon as the meeting was over, they used Airwatch to shut the down your computer – couldn’t say goodbye to some colleagues x HR & Senior management were tone def & don’t care Other Cons x Poor benefits x 1st week of training is very sales focused x No team based culture Final Thoughts x Don’t work here – but if you do! Remember 3 things 1. This is not a good place to build a career. It is just a good name on the CV 2. Get as much money upfront. 3. Believe no one, trust no one, watch actions carefully – especially senior management & HR.
