Pros

Great team and culture in the Portland office. Travel and OT if you like that. Occasional projects that are very easy (lots of down time.) Whopping 5 weeks of PTO per year, to make up for the sometimes absurdly long work weeks. Decent medical and 401k.

Cons

Montrose could be better, but many of the cons are a result of the nature of the industry. Work in rainy, loud, or intensely hot environments. Clients that are unprepared or have semi-unsafe work areas but we feel like we ask them to spend money on improvements for fear they might go with one of our competitors. Many parties involved in a project (client, safety, corporate, government) and sometimes it's impossible to please everyone, a lot of pressure to keep quiet about certain things.

Pros

Drive company trucks and traveling

Cons

Poor management, no way to move up in the company even though they say “you can”. Company pays way unfairly for example there is a LDAR Tech getting paid 23$ plus and is doing the same work as everyone else. You can bust your butt off for the company and you will not get the recognition unless you are a project manager taking the credit. And unless you are dating the upper management you will never move up in the company.

Pros

Casual dress code, friendly coworkers. Benefits good for single person with no children.

Cons

Corporate is out of touch with needs of satellite locations. Top heavy management. Will eliminate essential staff and expect remaining staff to do the job of two or more people. Will spend thousands to entertain a client yet reprimand about a seven dollar shipping charge. Claims to be focused on protecting the environment but really are only worried about investors and profit. Benefits are very pricey at the family level.
