Pros

It's basically an extension of college where you can continue learning something while applying for a real job at a legitimate company.

Cons

Very low pay. Employees have been pressured to lie on behalf of the company to the IRS. Employees can't go to the bathroom without updating their chat status and putting a post-it note on their desk of where they are, or they will be written up. Company requires a minimum 9 hour workday, no exceptions even if you worked late the day before. No overtime pay. There is often work on weekends due to poor management using up 80% of the project schedule twiddling their thumbs then by the time the software team gets the project it's already overdue.
